Destiny 2 адреса серверов
Because it’s p2p. There’s no way to hide IP addresses in a p2p system. That was always the case. In order to connect to a peer, you must know their IP address. No two ways around that. Sure the game could «hide» it, but that won’t prevent your network from knowing it, so you could easily just dig it out of your network logs, your firewall logs, your router, or get it from any old network monitoring software.
Technically only the host needs to know all the IP’s, and others need only know the host’s, but Destiny uses a weird p2p system.
Not necessarily. Encapsulating IP information inside encrypted communication can be done.
I do not know if D2 uses an authority server to authenticate communication. It doesn’t appear to, D2 also uses a 40hz update rate for weapon damage.

No it doesn’t. Obviously if there were a central, dedicated server, then it would be trivial to hide the IP. But that is not the case for Destiny, sadly.

Well that makes it so easy to cheat. But they can hide IP addresses in P2P involve a secure proxy server encapsulating players traffic inside the nested packet. Same thing IPsec does. I could use a VPN and completely hide my IP.

I mean you don’t technically hide your IP with a VPN. You just go through a VPN server. The VPN server knows your IP, the host knows only the VPN’s IP, so you are never directly connected to the host.
But yeah sure, if they bothered to have an intermediate server, then like I said, it would be trivial, because then it could just handle all the routing and you would only need to connect to that. They even already have a dedicated server apperantly, that handles all the heavy physics calculations, even though the rest of the game is p2p. But for some reason that’s all they use it.
