Dublin has been home to Google’s European headquarters for many years now, and we’re proud to have built one of our data centers in the city, too.
In September 2011, we announced that we would invest €75 million to convert a warehouse on an industrial site in West Dublin into our third energy efficient data center in Europe. To date, we’ve invested approximately €500 million to build and operate data centers on our Dublin site.
The facility, which became operational in September 2012, has an advanced air cooling system that takes advantage of Ireland’s weather to keep our servers running smoothly. As a result, the data center does not require any costly, power-hungry air conditioning units. This is part of our effort to use as little energy as possible and operate in an environmentally responsible manner.
We’ve been in Dublin for some time now and we greatly appreciate the welcome and support we’ve had in the city. We’ve always said we’re here for the long-term – and our data center further confirms this commitment.
Why did Google choose Dublin?
Dublin has the right combination of energy infrastructure, developable land, and available workforce for the data center. We were able to take the same approach to construction as we did in Hamina, Finland, using local engineering and construction expertise to redevelop an existing building.

Google community grants range from €10,000 to €50,000 and are intended for nonprofit and certain public organizations. We will not fund for-profit companies through this program. When evaluating proposals, we consider impact on the data center community and surrounding areas, measurable impact of the resources on achieving the mission, collaboration with other organizations and the ability to leverage other resources in the community, and the integration of Google in-kind or volunteer resources to maximize the impact.

As usual, when you have a complaint, customer service is extremely poor: finding the right addressee alone is already cumbersome! In addition, Google does not provide email addresses, just phone and fax: this is archaic and unfair, as these lines always are busy and you have to wait.
I have a problem but it is impossible to get any help. The phone number is not working, there is no email. How have you managed to set yourself up as a global service, and still make the customer irrelevant. I am reading all these complaints, and bewildered that you have the power to exploit customers at such an extraordinary level. Clearly we as customers are irrelevant. It is both disgusting and a disgrace.
I am trying to get someone on the phone to ask questions regarding automatic payments.
No one can help me and I keep being directed to others!

My gmail account is about 20 years old. Recently, I went on vacation to another country, and left my cell phone at home, not wanting to pay roaming charges. As computers are generally available worldwide, I didn’t bring my laptop either. I told everyone to contact me through my gmail account.
I couldn’t access my gmail due to the ridiculously stupid “security” issues. I was told the email didn’t recognize the device. When I tried to “verify”, I was asked a string of questions which I answered, the last of which is “when was your account created?” As my account is now over 20 years old (from memory) I do not believe this is reasonable. Although I have entered the correct verification codes from both my cell phone (when i returned home) and my hotmail address (which I will use in future) I keep receiving an email stating that you cannot confirm I own the account.
Although I have never before had any issues with any aspect of Google, I will require a person in your office to directly contact me through my hotmail account (below) to get this sorted out immediately.
The only thing I need to do is to reset the password. I do not understand why I have to recover the account.
I need someone to look at this asap. The contact email is below.

Few people in your office are not working the way they should be. They might show you that they are achieving your sales target, but they are certainly not making your customer happy as this should not be happening wot happened to me.
Please if we can look into this asap, as my next phone call will be to you directly or I will never buy any book from Google Play, I am a senior lecturer and I am sure if I will not buy then I will make sure my student will not buy too. Its a wrong of generating revenue,for sure.

I’m really disappointed with your customer service! We placed and paid for this order in your shop in Ireland and we were told it would be delivered within 10 days. The item is Lismore Diamond Decanter & Do. Whiskey tumbler with two glasses.
We called your Offices today 30.09.2015 and we were told that we would only be receiving it in November, this is not acceptable! We would like our order to be delivered today and will not accept it if it is not.
How can Google not have an email adress for coustomer service. Am I really expected to post a letter to a global internet company?!
On the 6th of august i received a push notification and got charged €12 after responding to a pop up window. Now how exactly did the company Zamano got my phone number trough my Gmail account and charged me €12 without need of any kind of authorization code or password. Could you please find out for me who breached the law in this case and why is it that easy for this company to get their numbers and charge them €12 just for pressing ok on a pop up window??

I have just received an email from an address in Pretoria, South Africa, purporting to be from Google, advising of a substantial award etc., and asking for various personal details.

Так как крупный (так и подмывает написать «олигархический», в свете событий последних лет) интернет-бизнес ломает традиционные представления об устройстве не только корпоративной структуры и менеджмента (а значит и налоговых отчислений), но и того, каким образом клиент потребляет и где платит за ту, или иную, услугу или продукт – схемы, использующиеся при этом (вроде бермудско-ирландской структуры юридического лица с милым названием «По-ирландски двойной голландский сендвич»), вполне ожидаемо раздражают государства и власть в них.
«Мне нравится продавать Ирландию. Нам есть что предложить» – эти слова произнёс в октябре 2013 года Фёргел О’Рурк, ирландец, отец одной из самых известных в стране женщин-политиков, а по роду деятельности – налоговый юрист, специализирующийся как раз на налоговых брешах в национальных законодательствах.
Теперь мы знаем, что именно О’Рурк предлагал Google в Ирландии – двойную экономию на корпоративных налогах. Эффективная ставка в Ирландии – 12,5% выручки, против 28% в Великобритании. Таким образом, за прошедшие 10 лет, Google недоплатила фантастическую сумму ($3,1 миллиарда) в налоговое ведомство страны, которую и пообещала «возместить в разумном объёме».
Потому что любой лорд, услышав такие новости, мгновенно роняет табакерку на пол и впадает в праведный гнев как в отношении конкретно Google, еще и перепечатывающей книжки бесплатно, так и в отношении всех подобных компаний, наравне с пресловутыми ирландскими сепаратистами, которые выставляются именно в подобном свете.
И ведь Google далеко не единственная – с 2008 года, когда Ирландия проводила реформы в ответ на всё усугубляющийся экономический кризис в стране, её корпоративная подоходная ставка привлекла всех гигантов, от Apple, Facebook, Blizzard, Amazon и Microsoft до транснациональных гигантов в традиционных отраслях: торговле (посмотрите на карту ниже – в Амстердаме до сих пор функционирует первая и самая крупная товарная биржа), энергии, транспортировке и логистике (Ирландия – крупнейший «ангар» мира), металлургии.
Схема, кстати, достаточно проста: Ирландская компания, аккумулирующая прибыль по ставке 12,5% минус роялти (дополнительные лицензионные отчисления) в пользу компании из Нидерландов (минус потому что государство возвращает за это налоговый вычет, так как голландская компания держит часть интеллектуальной собственности), составляющие львиную долю выручки, которые впоследствии переводятся на другую ирландскую компанию, не платящую никаких налогов за транзакции внутри Евросоюза.

Все эти компании используют ирландскую юрисдикцию для аккумуляции прибыли из Европы, Ближнего Востока и Африки – это известный факт. То, что британским аудиторам понадобилось так много времени на скрупулёзный подсчёт доказывает лишь то, что «всё идёт по плану», а заявления лорда-канцлера Джорджа Осборна в Парламенте о том, что это «первая важная победа в борьбе, которую правительство ведет, чтобы заставить компании платить справедливые налоги на бизнес в Соединенном Королевстве» смотрятся как минимум странно после того, как в марте-апреле прошлого года было объявлено о введении специального «диверсифицированного» налога на прибыль компаний, пытающихся оптимизировать налоговые выплаты в Великобритании с помощью оффшорных зон (коей, Ирландия, с точки зрения Великобритании, и является). Налог, кстати, так и называется: «на Гугл».
То же самое мы наблюдаем последние несколько лет и в США, где президент Барак Обама публично высказывал благодарности компаниям, «вернувшим деньги на родину». Это к тренду деоффшоризации, над которой семейство О’Рурк смеётся в голос. Марк Цукерберг в этот момент спешно узнаёт у финансового директора, только ли выручка со Штатов идёт на американский счёт и только она ли одна, а у Джеффа Безоса разбивается дрон.
Вопрос в том, кто следующий на очереди. Правоприменение на острове работает отлажено несмотря ни на что, а общий театральный фон, скорее, способствует скрытию главного движения пьесы – никто не избежит справедливости, касается ли она налогов, или чего-то еще. Да, решения могут быть медленными, да, по ходу событий появляется огромное количество вопросов, требующих ответа. Но в том, что по счёту должно быть заплачено, стороны сходятся достаточно быстро.
Правительство Ирландии заявляет, что в будущем намерено искоренить подобные схемы. А пока – выпей за наш счёт (на который пылесосит прибыль половины мира).
